From a recipe, as scaled

Scale the entremet to 3 kg for Saturday and add it to the list. The ingredients arrive at 3 kg’s worth, not at the recipe’s own yield. The same works for one section alone when only the glaze is missing, and from the pan calculator at your tin. A recipe with sub-recipes asks whether their ingredients come too.

  • Whole recipe or a single section
  • At the scale shown on screen
  • Sub-recipes on request
  • Only ingredients with an amount

Choosing what you buy

Nothing lands on the list unseen. Every ingredient starts ticked. Untick the flour and sugar you always have, and keep the vanilla. Tap a row to change its amount before it goes over. Then follow the link in “Added to shopping list” to see it there. Amounts join any open row of the same ingredient.

  • Everything ticked until you say otherwise
  • Amounts editable, unit fixed
  • A count of what will be added
  • One tap from the toast to the list

A whole day, or one plan

Three plans on Saturday, one shop on Friday. The day’s cart gathers every recipe still to do, at the amounts planned. Pick the recipes first, then the ingredients. The same sponge planned twice shows once, summed and marked ×2. Sub-recipes are not offered here, because a plan already lists them as recipes of their own.

  • Every plan of the day in one go
  • Planned amounts, not recipe yields
  • Same recipe twice, summed once
  • Plans marked done left out

Taking a recipe back out

The order is cancelled on Thursday. Each recipe feeding the list has a card above it. Remove the card and its share leaves every row at once. A row stays when another recipe or your own amount still needs it. Sub-recipe ingredients carry the sub-recipe’s name, so they have a card of their own to remove.

  • One card per recipe on the list
  • Only that recipe’s share removed
  • Shared rows kept for the rest

Not in the app

Three things adding from a recipe does not do:

  • Subtract what is in your pantry
  • Convert amounts to pack sizes
  • Start from an order without a plan

Common questions

Why is an ingredient missing from the selection?

Because the recipe gives it no amount. “Salt, a pinch” has nothing to shop for. Give it a quantity and it is offered next time.

Does adding the same recipe twice double the amounts?

Yes. Each add stacks onto the open rows and the card counts up. Remove the card and every add goes with it.
