Updating prices

Typing prices in, letting the AI estimate them, or reading them from a receipt.

By hand, for prices you know

“Enter prices” on the ingredient library’s add button opens the sheet. “Update manually” turns the library into a price list. Ingredients come first, then supplies, each with amount, unit and price. No AI is involved, and it is open on every plan. Only the rows you touch are saved. A session that fixes the butter and the cake boxes rewrites two things, not two hundred.

Typical prices for what has none

“Estimate with AI” appears while an ingredient or a supply has no price. It fills the gaps with typical shop prices for the country in Settings, not for the app language. A producer on the ingredient is sent along, so a branded flour is priced as that brand. Estimates and documents need Pro.

Reading a receipt or invoice

Photograph a receipt, or pick a PDF invoice. Every line lands in a review list with a dot. Boxes and boards on the same receipt are matched to your supplies. Tap a line to change or create the item, or to fix the amount or unit. Skip what is not for baking and confirm.

  • Blue: a sure match
  • Amber: a guess to check
  • Green: no ingredient found

What the app remembers

A match you picked by hand, or one the app was sure of, is kept as a receipt name. It sits on the ingredient or supply, and the same product resolves on the next receipt without asking. A guess is kept only once you have picked it yourself. Each applied ingredient price also becomes a point in price history, labelled by where it came from.

Not in the app

Two things updating prices does not do:

  • Watch shop prices for you; a price changes only when you enter or confirm it
  • Add ingredients on its own; an unmatched line waits until you pick or create one

Common questions

Can I undo a wrong match?

Yes. Open the ingredient and remove the name under “Receipt names”. The next receipt asks again. A price already written to the wrong ingredient is corrected on that ingredient.

Does a scanned invoice set the VAT rate?

Yes, if you charge VAT. A line that prints a VAT rate, a tax letter or both net and gross figures gives the ingredient that rate. A price printed without VAT is converted to gross with it.
