Nutrition and allergens

Calories and macros for the batch on screen, and the allergens your ingredients bring with them.

Calories for the batch on screen

Open the recipe and tap the “Nutritional value” card under the yield. The donut shows calories, protein, fat and carbs for the whole recipe at the yield on screen. Each ingredient row shows its share. A filling made from another recipe rolls up its own values. Set the yield to one and the same donut shows one piece.

  • Calories, protein, fat and carbs
  • Share per ingredient row
  • Sub-recipes rolled in
  • Per piece at a yield of one

Where the numbers come from

Every ingredient carries its own values per amount. You type them from the packet or pick them from the built-in food dictionary. The dictionary fills them per 100 g and marks them as estimates. Cups and spoons convert through 1 g = 1 ml until you give the real figure. A piece needs a weight before it can count at all.

Allergens follow the ingredients

Tick gluten on your flour and milk on your butter once. Every recipe that uses them lists both, sub-recipes included. A recipe with none says so. The list is built only from the ingredients. A missed tick on one jar of hazelnut paste is missed in every cake it goes into.

Not in the app

Two things the nutrition screen does not do:

  • Print calories or allergens on the PDF export
  • Set an allergen on the recipe itself; it lives on the ingredient

Common questions

Why does the card show a warning instead of a number?

One ingredient has no nutrition data or no conversion to it. The total stays hidden instead of showing a smaller figure that looks complete. The breakdown marks the row so you can fix the ingredient.
