Cooking mode

Checklists that remember where you were, bake sizes for merged tiers, and a screen that stays on.

One recipe at a time

“Start cooking” on a plan opens its first recipe. Swipe sideways for the next. Every amount is already the planned one. A sponge written for 800 g shows as the 2 kg you are making, with the cost, calories and tin to match. The screen stays awake while your hands are in the flour.

  • Ingredients and steps at the planned amount
  • Cost, calories and tin for that batch
  • Prep time scaled, oven time as written
  • Each component’s weight and the batch total

Ticking off as you go

Tap an ingredient as it goes on the scale, or a step as you finish it, and it fades. The ticks belong to this plan, not to the recipe. The same sponge planned twice on Saturday has two separate lists. Opening the recipe itself shows it untouched. “Clear” resets one list when the batch goes wrong and you start over.

  • Ingredients ticked as they go in
  • Steps ticked as you finish them
  • Ticks kept per plan, not per recipe
  • Clear to start a batch again

Bake sizes for a merged batch

When a tiered cake was planned as one batch, the tin figure lists the real tins instead of one impossible pan. A two-tier vanilla sponge shows Ø20 + Ø16 cm. Tap it for each tin’s share of the batter. Two tiers of one size are added up. That is one mix split between pans or baked in turns.

Not in the app

Two things cooking mode does not do:

  • Count down the oven; bake time is shown as written
  • Change the amount midway; go back to the plan for more or less

Common questions

Why are my ticks gone?

Because they live on the phone that made them and are kept for a month. A plan opened on a second phone, or after a long gap, starts with a clean list.

Can I start from the middle of the plan?

Yes. Tap any recipe on the plan to open cooking mode on it. Tap a tier on the cake drawing to jump to that tier’s recipe.
