Production plans
What goes into a day’s plan, how amounts and tiered cakes are worked out, and what changes after saving.

What a plan holds
A plan is a date, sometimes a time, and the recipes you will make that day, each with an amount. For Friday: 2 kg of vanilla sponge and one batch of Swiss meringue. Add a note with the flavour the client changed at the last minute, and a photo of their sketch. A note alone is enough to save. Recipes can follow.
- Recipes with the amount you will make
- Tiered cakes with their tier batches
- A note, photos and a reminder
- A name, when the date is not enough
Amounts, sub-recipes and your tin
A recipe with sub-recipes asks whether to plan only it or all of them. “Plan all” takes one amount and scales every sub-recipe from it. An entremet arrives with dacquoise, mousse and glaze in step. A recipe written for a 20 cm tin can be planned for the 24 cm one you own. The amount follows by volume.
One batch for a whole cake
A tiered cake brings each tier’s recipes into the plan: sponge, filling, soak and cover. When tiers share a recipe, “Merge duplicates?” asks whether to mix one batch for the whole cake or one per tier. A merged row remembers the tins it came from. A three-tier vanilla wedding cake is one mix split three ways, not a tin nobody owns.
- Sponge, filling, soak and cover per tier
- One batch or one per tier
- Merged rows remember their tins
After the plan is saved
The plan reads each recipe as it is today, not as it was when you planned it. Correct the butter in the sponge on Tuesday, and Saturday’s plan has the fix. Delete the recipe and the plan keeps its name and picture, marked as deleted. It can no longer be cooked.
Not in the app
Two things a plan does not do:
- Repeat itself; a weekly market bake is planned again each week
- Export as a PDF; a plan is read in the app
Common questions
Why can I not edit the sponge row?
Because it belongs to the cake. Edit the cake and its rows are worked out again. Remove the cake and its batches go with it.
What does “Mark as done” change?
Only two things. The plan gets a green dot on the calendar and leaves the dashboard’s list for today. Its recipes and reminder stay as they are.
